About Us

Deckert Distribution is a world sales company for documentaries and stands for excellent, director-led, award-winning films.

We distribute creative documentaries from around the globe for which we see a potential on the international market. The films in our catalogue are very divers in style and content, but they all have one thing in common: we are convinced of their high quality and their high relevance, and we want to introduce these outstanding documentaries to a wide international audience. So our main goal is to make the connection between a film and its viewers, via TV as well as within the festival circuit.

In general we have a strong interest in social topics, political issues, history, ecology and in films from / about Russia and Eastern Europe. We love films that carry a strong signature by its author. We distribute theatrical and TV documentaries.

We sell our films to broadcasters worldwide and have developed a strong international network with excellent contacts over the years. We know the slots and the buyers. Throughout the year, we present our slate at international markets like MIPDOC / MIPTV / MIPCOM in Cannes, and at festivals with attached markets, such as IDFA Amsterdam, Visions du Réel Nyon, DOK Leipzig, Hot Docs Toronto, or Sheffield Doc/Fest. You can find us at major festivals like Rotterdam, Berlin, Cannes or Venice.
In close cooperation with producers and national film institutes, we create an international festival strategy for our films to give them the best possible (inter)national premiere screenings.

Deckert Distribution GmbH was established by managing director Heino Deckert in 2003 in Leipzig, Germany. Being in the business for years, he has gained an excellent inside knowledge of the documentary market. He regularly lectures on production and distribution and is a group leader in the European Producer workshop Eurodoc. He was chairman of the European Documentary Network (EDN) from 2006-2008.
